On August 28th, the inauguration of the Institute for Northeast China and Northeast Asian Studies of Jilin University (JLU) was grandly held. Han Jun, Governor of Jilin Province, and Jiang Zhiying, Secretary of the Party Committee of Jilin University, jointly unveiled the plaque for the institute.

Xia Deren, Vice Chairman of the Committee of Economic Affairs of the CPPCC National Committee and former Chairman of the Liaoning Provincial Committee of the CPPCC, An Lijia, Vice Governor of Jilin Province, Jiang Zhiying, Secretary of the Party Committee of JLU, Yu Hongjun, former Vice Minister of the International Department, Central Committee of CPC, and Xu Qingsen, Director of the Department of Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education, delivered speeches. Xing Guangcheng, Member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Head of the Institute of Chinese Borderland Studies, CASS, Wang Shengjin and Zhang Fugui, Eminent Professor in Philosophy and Social Sciences, and more than 400 teachers and students witnessed this historical moment.
On behalf of JLU and President Zhang Xi, Jiang Zhiying expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Education, and the Jilin Provincial Party Committee and Government for their strong support to Jilin University over the years.
On behalf of the People's Government of Jilin Province, An Lijia offered warm congratulations to the establishment of the Institute.
In his speech, Xu Qingsen introduced the work of the Department of Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education to actively promote the construction of independent knowledge systems of philosophy and social sciences and the improvement of ideological and political service capabilities in colleges and universities.
Yu Hongjun extended warm congratulations to the establishment of the Institute.
Xia Deren said that the establishment of the Institute For Northeast China and Northeast Asian Studies of JLU is a major move to comprehensively implement in the spirit of the General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech and important instructions.

The inaugural meeting was presided over by Feng Zhengyu, Executive Deputy Secretary of the party committee of JLU. At the meeting, Zheng Weitao, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Executive Vice President of JLU, read out the decision on the establishment of the Institute For Northeast China and Northeast Asian Studies of JLU and the list of council members of the Institute For Northeast China and Northeast Asian Studies of JLU.
After the inaugural meeting, the Institute For Northeast China and Northeast Asian Studies of JLU held a council meeting.
Heads of relevant departments of the Jilin Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government, well-known experts and scholars in related fields in China, heads of universities in Changchun, members of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of JLU, heads of relevant functional departments and relevant colleges, teacher representatives and student representatives attended the inaugural meeting.
