On the morning of September 16th, 2022, the Northeast Asian Research Center, the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University and the Department of East Asian Studies and the Center for Chinese Studies of Dongseo University in Korea jointly held an academic conference on the theme of 30 Years of China-Korea Relations: Opportunities and Challenges for the Future. The conference was hosted by Jilin University and conducted online.

    Professor Zhang Huizhi, Deputy Director of the Northeast Asian Research Center and Director of the Institute of Korean Peninsular Studies of Jilin University, presided over the opening ceremony, and Professor Wu Hao, Dean of Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University and Professor Shin Jung-seung, Director of the Department of East Asian Studies of Dongseo University and former Ambassador for the Republic of Korea to the People’s Republic of China, respectively delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. More than 20 Chinese and Korean experts and scholars from Jilin University, Dongseo University, Dong-A University, Pukyong National University, Dongduk Women University, Kookmin University and other institutions in Korea attended the conference and discussed on the topics of Opportunities and Challenges in the Development of China-Korea Diplomatic Security Relations, China-South Korea Economic Relations: New Dynamics of Competition and Cooperation, and China-South Korea Relations and the Direction of the Regional Situation in Northeast Asia.

    During the meeting, which was the 6th academic symposium held since the signing of the exchange and cooperation agreement, both sides highly appreciated the continuous, solid and fruitful cooperation between the two institutions and expressed that they would continue to promote the deepening of this cooperative relationship and contribute to the development of Sino-South Korea relations.
