On the afternoon of October 10th, 2021, the opening ceremony for the freshman class of 2021 of the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University was held in the Dongrong Building. The opening ceremony was presided over by Qiu Song, Secretary of the Party Committee, and attended by members of the college leadership group, all directors and deputy directors, deans and deputy deans, etc. of each institute.
The year 2021 is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 75th anniversary of the founding of Jilin University. The first batch of 30 undergraduate students and 131 new graduate students also enrolled in the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University. The 2021 Commencement Ceremony began with the solemn singing of the national anthem. Secretary Qiu Song, on behalf of the college, warmly welcomed the new students of Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University. He encouraged them to study hard and become the heirs and promoters of the fine traditions of Northeast Asia. Then a promotional video of the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University was shown to recall the history and achievements of the college since its establishment.
Then Liu Junlin, a representative of the freshman students, and Bao Chongfeng, a representative of the graduate students, spoke. They expressed their understanding of the college, shared the hardships and insights of their own study experiences, and said that they would inherit and carry forward the fine tradition of the college with unremitting struggle under the guidance of Xi Jinping's thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
Mr. Zhao Yang, a Teacher Representative, shared his own experience and encouraged the students to be optimistic and take a sunny and positive attitude to studying, and to strive for progress and face the difficulties they encounter on the path of study with high morals, have high aspirations and set small goals for college and big goals for life.
Zhang Tianyi, the representative of outstanding alumni, congratulated the freshmen through a video, shared his college life and success experience, and encouraged them to cherish the hard-won learning opportunities and strive to become outstanding talents.
President Wu Hao delivered a speech at the ceremony, welcoming the new students on behalf of the college and teaching them the "first lesson of the first day of school". He pointed out the characteristics and requirements of college students' studies, and urged the new students not only to "learn good characters" but also to "study hard", encouraging them to "acquire deep learning and share it gradually", to "be self-improving and move forward steadfastly toward the set goal", to "plow forward and keep moving toward a higher goal".
The graduation ceremony ended with the singing of the Jilin University Alma Mater. We hope that the new students of the Class of 2021 will be practical and innovative and will be motivated to achieve fruitful results during their studies at the College of Northeast Asian Studies of Jilin University, and to make more contributions to the construction and development of the college.
